Grease flared up in my pan last week and I grabbed Dousera without thinking. Pulled, spread, done. There was no powder or mess to scrub up afterward, which I wasn't expecting.

Nina W.

I assumed all fire blankets were the same flimsy cloth. After comparing a bunch of options I went with Dousera, and the thick woven fiberglass feels seriously built for heat. Total convert.

Frequently Asked Questions

verified +347 experts reviewed it as the best choice in 2026
Q1 How do I use the Dousera fire blanket?
Pull the blanket out of its container, hold it in front of you, then lay it over the flames. Leave it in place until everything has completely cooled down.
Q2 Does it work on different types of fires?
Yes. It works on most common household fires, including kitchen, electrical and liquid fires. If you can do it safely, cut the power or heat source first.
Q3 Can I reuse my Dousera after a fire?
For your safety, replace it after it's been used on a real fire. A used blanket may be compromised, and a fresh one keeps your home fully protected.
Q4 What size is the blanket?
It's a full 1m x 1m sheet (about 3.3 ft) with a thickened build. That's big enough to cover a pan, grill or small appliance with room to spare.
Q5 Why does the thickened design matter?
The extra thickness and generous size help smother flames faster and keep your hands better shielded, whether the fire is tiny or a little bigger.
Q6 How large a fire can it handle?
It's made for small to medium fires. If flames are spreading or growing out of control, get everyone outside and call emergency services right away.
Q7 Is it safe around kids and pets?
Absolutely. There are no chemicals, sprays or powders involved, so it's safe to keep around kids and pets. Just store it where adults can grab it quickly.
Q8 Where should I store it?
Keep it somewhere easy to reach, like near the kitchen exit, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Make sure everyone in the house knows where it lives.
