Frequently Asked Questions

verified +347 experts reviewed it as the best choice in 2026
Q1 Which die should I use for my lug?
Pick the die stamped with the mm² size that matches your lug, crimp, then give the wire a firm tug. If it holds and the hex looks even, you're set. The stamped sizes make matching quick.
Q2 Can I use it on aluminum as well as copper?
Yes. It is made for copper and aluminum lugs and connecting sleeves in power, telecom and transport work. On the YQK-70 the specs list copper 4 to 70 mm² and aluminum 4 to 50 mm².
Q3 Is it hard to use if I'm not a pro?
No special skills needed. You pick the stamped die, pump the handle by hand and turn the ON/OFF knob to release. It runs on your own muscle, with no battery or outlet, and hydraulic pressure does the heavy squeezing.
Q4 Which model should I choose?
Pick the model whose mm² range covers your thickest and thinnest lug: YQK-70 4 to 70, YQK-120 10 to 120, YQK-240 16 to 240, YQK-300 16 to 300 mm². Extra dies widen the low end on some options.
Q5 How big and heavy is it?
The YQK-70 is the compact one at 310 mm (12.2 in) and 3 kg (6.6 lb). The YQK-300 is the larger one at 470 mm (18.5 in) and 6.3 kg (13.9 lb). Choose the model by the thickest lug you crimp.
Q6 Does it come with a case and all the dies?
Yes. Each kit comes in a plastic carry case with its die pairs, an instruction sheet and sealing rings, so everything for the job stays together.
