Q1 Does every negative wire have to go through the shunt?
Yes. The shunt sits in series on your battery negative: B- to the battery, P- to the load and charger negative. All current must pass through it, or the meter can't count it. A red wire from battery positive to B+ powers the meter.
Q2 Does it work with LiFePO4 and my system voltage?
Yes. It covers lead-acid, LiFePO4, ternary lithium, polymer lithium, NiCd and NiMH on systems from 8 to 120V DC. It counts current instead of reading voltage, so a flat lithium curve doesn't leave you guessing.
Q3 What battery bank size can it handle?
You can set capacity from 0.1 to 9999 Ah, so it suits a small battery or a big house bank. Choose the shunt by your highest current draw, not by battery size. That is what the current range is for.
Q4 Which current range should I choose?
Choose by the highest current your system reaches: 50A (0-75A), 100A (0-150A), 350A (0-500A) or 500A (0-750A). Each kit pairs the meter with its matching shunt, and different ranges must not be mixed.
Q5 How much room do I need for the shunt and display?
Plan a spot for the shunt and a 94.0 x 57.0 mm (3.70 x 2.24 in) cutout for the display. The display snaps in from the front. Shunts run from 47x41x13 mm (1.85x1.61x0.51 in) to 122x60x32 mm (4.80x2.36x1.26 in).
Q6 Will it drain my battery?
The meter's working draw is about 10mA and its static draw is 1.0mA, low enough to ignore on a house bank. The green backlight draws more while it is lit: 50mA on the 50A spec, 100mA on the others.
Q7 Does it have Bluetooth or an app?
No. This is a wired meter with its own backlit screen, so you read everything right at the display. No phone needed, no app to open at 2am.
Q8 Is it for my RV, boat or cart?
Likely yes. Typical uses are RVs, yachts, golf carts, forklifts and energy storage, on systems from 8 to 120V DC. Pick the shunt by the highest current your setup draws.
