The reverse-polarity guard cuts power before any current flows. No spark, no blown fuse, no fried ECU. You'll see an error on the display — swap the clamps and the unit resumes normally on the right polarity.

Yes. The unit auto-detects 6V vs 12V at the clamps. Pre-1956 GM, Ford, and Mopar 6V systems charge correctly without any switch flip. Same unit handles the 12V battery in your daily driver.

The Repair mode uses high-frequency pulses to break sulfation off lead plates. It works on neglected batteries with some life left, not every time. If a cell is shorted or completely dry, no charger brings it back — the chemistry is gone.

No. AmpForge is a charger and maintainer — not a jump-starter for high-amperage engine cranking. For a no-crank battery, charge it for 30-60 minutes first and then turn the key, or use a separate jump pack.
